What you need:

• A boat (anything that seats two people — alloy, fibreglass, cabin, or ski)

• Fuel

• Helmets (any motorcycle helmet)

• Lifejackets

 

How it works:
Before racing, each entrant nominates their own average speed. You then complete the set number of laps (no more than 30 minutes on the course) while trying to hold that speed as closely as possible.

For every km/h you run above or below your nominated speed, you earn an error point (or part thereof). Points add up lap by lap. Like golf, the winner is the boat with the fewest total points across the two races on the day.

“Smooth and steady wins the race.” It’s a fun way to get right in the middle of the action and experience offshore powerboat racing from the driver’s seat.

Note: Boats must nominate a minimum of 40 km/h to compete.
